    Shaykh Uwais began his studies in the conventional Maktabs scattered across England. During his secondary school, he enrolled in the newly established Jamiat al-Ilm Wa al-Huda in Blackburn. There he learnt tajwid, parts of the Qur’an, and went on to study the ‘Alim course for another two years. After completing his intial studies, he decided to travel to India where he toured all the renowned Islamic seminaries. He settled in Lucknow and spent the next 5-6 years studying at the Nadwat al-Ulama where he completed his ‘Alimiyyah in Islamic Studies and Arabic Literature, and his Postgraduate in Hadith Studies. He traveled extensively to meet and learn from prominent luminaries, the likes of Shaykh ul Hadith Shaykh Yunus in Saharanpur, Mufti Abdul Khaliq Madrasi in Deoband, Mawlana Nur al-Hasan in Kandhla, and Shaykh Abu Mahfuz al-Ma’sumi in Calcutta, amongst others. Upon his return from India, Shaykh Uwais enrolled in a postgraduate Islamic Studies course at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), from which graduated in the year 2008, His final dissertation, ‘Text Criticism (Naqd al-Mutun) in light of Imam Muslim’s Kitab al-Tamyiz’, reflects his primary interests.
